Professor Abdulelah Faisal Bassas is a distinguished Saudi consultant in plastic and reconstructive surgery with over 35 years of extensive experience in complex cosmetic and reconstructive procedures. Born in Makkah, he completed his general education at the Capital Institute in Riyadh before earning his medical degree from King Saud University. Pursuing advanced specialization, Dr. Bassas obtained a PhD in Plastic Surgery from King Saud University, followed by a second PhD and a Fellowship in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery from the prestigious McGill University in Canada in 2000. Currently, he serves as a Consultant Plastic Surgeon at the Saudi German Hospital in Riyadh. His career has been pivotal in advancing the specialty within the governmental health sector; he was a consultant and the Head of the Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the Security Forces Hospital in Riyadh from 1994 to 2018, and later became the department head at Prince Muhammad bin Abdulaziz Hospital in 2018. His expertise covers a wide spectrum, including hand surgery, microsurgical tissue transfer, burn treatment, hair transplantation, and congenital deformity correction, having performed over 5,000 surgical procedures. Dr. Bassas is also actively involved in medical education as a member of the Plastic Surgery Training Committee for the Saudi Board.
