Elissar Zakaria Khoury, known professionally as Elissa, is a Lebanese artist regarded as one of the most prominent figures in romantic music across the Arab world. Born in Deir el Ahmar, Lebanon, to a Lebanese father and a Syrian mother, her passion for the arts began at a young age, participating in political critique theatre at sixteen. Her official artistic breakthrough came in 1992 when she participated in the famous talent show "Studio El Fan," where she won the silver medal. In 1998, she released her debut album, "Baddy Doub," which achieved immediate success with its blend of Arabic and Western musical styles.
