About Elissar

Elissar, whose real name is Mary Abou Mrad, is a renowned Lebanese oriental dancer and performing artist born in Beirut on December 23, 1980. She has established herself as one of the most prominent figures in the world of oriental dance both in Lebanon and across the Arab world. Her career began at a young age, and she supported her natural talent with formal training, studying oriental dance with notable instructors like Nadira Assaf and Sami El Hajj, as well as classical ballet with Georgette Gebara. Her major breakthrough came after her appearance on the television program "Studio El Fan," where she was introduced to a wider audience by director Simon Al-Asmar. Elissar's fame quickly extended beyond Lebanon, leading to performances worldwide, including in Gulf countries and major European capitals like Paris, London, and Monaco. Not limiting herself to dance, she ventured into singing and released her first album in 2005, which featured the music video "Give Me More," a fusion of Eastern and Western performance styles. She also explored acting, participating in Egyptian films such as "Iyal Harrifa" and "Shadd Ajzaa" in 2015, and made an appearance in the international film "Solar Eclipse – Depth of Darkness." Elissar is also known for her advocacy for animal welfare.

Elissar's Achievements

Elissar achieved global recognition by performing oriental dance in numerous Arab and European countries, including the UAE, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, and Egypt, as well as in London, Paris, and Monaco. This extensive international touring solidified her status as a global performing artist. In 2015, Elissar expanded her artistic portfolio into cinema, participating in notable Egyptian films produced by Ahmed El Sobky, including "Iyal Harrifa" and "Shadd Ajzaa." She also made her debut in international film with a role as "Edwina" in "Solar Eclipse – Depth of Darkness," for which she was trained by the renowned Indian choreographer Saroj Khan. She collaborated with the famous Iraqi singer Majed Al Mohandes on the music video for his hit song "Saharni Hawaha" in 2013, which was a significant success. Earlier in her career, she established herself as a multi-talented artist by releasing her own music album in 2005, showcasing her abilities as both a dancer and a singer.

Education

She studied oriental dance under specialized instructors, including Nadira Assaf and Sami El Hajj, and also trained in classical ballet with Georgette Gebara. Some sources indicate that she initially studied nursing before pursuing a professional dance career.
