Abdullah Elshrif, full name Abdullah Mohammed Ahmed Al Sharif, is an Egyptian poet, content creator, and political commentator, born in Alexandria on May 25, 1978. He has emerged as one of the most prominent online voices critical of the Egyptian government, known for his satirical style that blends poetry with incisive political analysis. Elshrif began his career on YouTube in January 2013, publishing political poems. However, he gained widespread fame in early 2014 with the creation of his character "Cheb Ashraf," a satirical personality who criticized the ruling regime in Egypt. The series was highly successful, frequently topping YouTube's trending lists in Egypt. He later discontinued the "Cheb Ashraf" show to focus on his main weekly program, "Abdullah ELshrif," where he comments on political events in Egypt and the Arab world. In addition to his YouTube work, Elshrif has collaborated with Al Jazeera Mubasher, hosting shows such as "Houda and Abbouda" and "Bus." He is known for his sharp critique of Egyptian policies, which has led to significant security pressure on him and his family, including the arrest of his father and several of his brothers. Elshrif currently lives in exile, with sources indicating he resides in the United Kingdom, from where he continues to produce his content.

He launched his YouTube career with the poem "Professor Abu Lahab bin Abd Manaf" in January 2013, which drew attention to his poetic talent and capacity for political critique. In 2014, he created the character "Cheb Ashraf," which became a social media phenomenon in Egypt. The success of this series earned his channel a YouTube Silver Creator Award and a certificate of excellence from Google. He presented programs on Al Jazeera Mubasher, including "Bus," which aimed to correct cultural misconceptions, and "Houda and Abbouda," expanding his audience beyond the YouTube platform. Elshrif received the Umar bin Abdel Azziz Award for Islamic civil activism from the Islamic Central Council of Switzerland for his poem "Bird" ("Asfour"), becoming the first Arab to win the award.
