Amr Khaled, born Amr Mohamed Helmi Khaled on September 5, 1967, in Alexandria, is a prominent Egyptian Islamic preacher, thinker, and author. He is regarded as one of the most influential contemporary televangelists, known for blending religious awareness with principles of personal and community development. He began his career as an accountant after graduating from Cairo University with a degree in accounting in 1988, a profession he practiced for several years before dedicating himself to full-time preaching in the late 1990s. Khaled gained widespread popularity through his television programs on satellite channels like Iqraa TV. His approach presents a modern interpretation of Islam focused on ethics, productivity, and social progress, resonating strongly with a younger audience. His most notable program, "Life Makers" (Sunna' al-Hayah), launched in 2004, was a call to action for youth to initiate development projects in their communities under the motto "Development through Faith." He is also the founder of the Right Start Foundation International, a UK-based charity that supports development initiatives. Education

Amr Khaled earned a Bachelor's degree in Accounting from the Faculty of Commerce at Cairo University in 1988. He later obtained a diploma in Islamic Studies in 2001. In May 2010, he received his Ph.D. in Islamic Studies from the University of Wales, Lampeter, in the UK. His doctoral thesis was titled "Islam and Coexistence with the West."
