Ahmed Hamdy Abou Hashima Abdel Aziz, a prominent Egyptian businessman and politician, was born in Cairo on January 11, 1975. He began his career in the steel industry after graduating from the Faculty of Commerce at Suez Canal University in 1996. In 2010, he founded Egyptian Steel Group with significant investments, establishing it as a major player in the Egyptian steel market by capturing a substantial market share through the adoption of eco-friendly and energy-efficient technologies. Abou Hashima's investments expanded into other vital sectors. He founded Egyptian Cement in 2016 with the aim of creating an integrated building materials complex in Upper Egypt. He also entered the media sector by establishing the Egyptian Media Group in 2016, which acquired major media networks like ON TV channels and the Youm7 newspaper before he sold his entire stake to Eagle Capital in December 2017. His more recent ventures include the Egyptian Industrial Investment Group (founded in 2022), MAFI for Agricultural Produce Industries, and a stake in Beltone Financial Holding. Alongside his economic activities, Abou Hashima has engaged in politics, serving as the Vice President of the Republican People's Party. In October 2020, he was appointed to the Egyptian Senate, where he became the Head of the Youth and Sports Committee in October 2021. He is also known for his community involvement through the "Abou Hashima El Kheir" foundation, which launches initiatives to support the most impoverished villages and economically empower youth.
