About Hossam Altatari

Dr. Hossam Altatari is a distinguished consultant in Pediatrics and Pediatric Infectious Diseases with extensive international experience spanning Europe, North America, and the Middle East. He currently serves as the Director of General Pediatrics and Pediatric Infectious Diseases at The Heart Medical Center in Al Ain, UAE, a position he has held since 2018. In parallel with his clinical practice, Dr. Altatari maintains his academic affiliation as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Western Ontario, Canada, reflecting his commitment to ongoing medical education. His academic journey began with an MD from the University Medical School of Debrecen, Hungary, in 1994. He then completed his Arab Board training in the UAE before moving to the United States. In the US, he undertook his pediatric residency at Hurley Medical Center of Michigan State University and a fellowship in Pediatric Infectious Diseases at the Children's Hospital of Michigan. He is board-certified by the American Board of Pediatrics in both General Pediatrics and Pediatric Infectious Diseases. Prior to his current role, Dr. Altatari was instrumental at Tawam Hospital in the UAE, serving as the Chief of Pediatric Infectious Diseases from 2009 and later as the Director of the Pediatric Residency Program from 2010 to 2017. Under his leadership, the program gained international recognition, becoming one of the first programs outside the US to achieve ACGME accreditation.
