Abdul Rahman Fawaz, known professionally as Al-Shami, is a Syrian artist and singer born in Damascus on June 2, 2002. His artistic vision was shaped by early life challenges, having to leave Syria in 2011 due to political events and relocating to Turkey. It was there he acquired the nickname "Al-Shami" (The Damascene), which he later adopted as his stage name. Al-Shami began his music career in 2021, initially emerging as a rapper before transitioning into a leading figure in the new wave of Levantine Pop. Al-Shami writes and composes most of his own music, creating a signature sound that blends traditional Eastern folk melodies with contemporary pop beats. He gained widespread recognition across the Arab world with the release of his hit song "Ya Leil W Yal Ein" in the summer of 2023, which achieved massive success on platforms like YouTube and TikTok. This was followed by other popular tracks such as "Sabran" and "Wein." He frequently collaborates with music producer Fouad Jnid. In addition to his solo work, he has engaged in notable collaborations, most prominently the song "Maleket Gamal El Kon" (Miss Universe) with Egyptian star Tamer Hosny. Al-Shami actively connects with his audience through social media, which has helped him build a substantial fanbase.
