Abdullah Rushdy, full name Abdullah Mohammed Rushdy Al-Saadawi, is a prominent Egyptian Islamic preacher and researcher specializing in religions and sects, born in Cairo on February 3, 1984. He is a graduate of Al-Azhar University, where he earned a Bachelor's degree in Islamic Da'wah from the Faculty of Da'wah, a second Bachelor's in Sharia and Law from the Faculty of Sharia and Law, and a Master's degree in Religions and Sects. He is currently a PhD candidate in the same field. Rushdy began his career as an Imam and preacher for the Egyptian Ministry of Awqaf (Religious Endowments) and previously served as the ministry's official spokesperson. He gained widespread recognition through his television programs and highly publicized, often controversial, intellectual debates. His media career started in 2011 with the program "Al-Qawl Al-Fasl" (The Decisive Say) on Al-Fajr satellite channel, which focused on religious dialogues and debates. He has also hosted programs on other channels such as Al-Shabab and "Health and Beauty," as well as "Sheryan Al-Khair" on Mehwar TV. Rushdy is known for his polemical style and has engaged in famous debates, most notably with researcher Islam El-Behairy. He maintains a strong presence on social media, where he discusses contemporary religious and intellectual issues and responds to criticisms leveled against Islam, making him both an influential and controversial figure.
