Balqees Fathi is an Emirati artist and entrepreneur of Yemeni descent, and the daughter of renowned Yemeni musician Ahmed Fathi. Born and raised in Abu Dhabi, she began her artistic journey at a young age and was granted Emirati citizenship in 2012. Her professional career took off in 2011, and she quickly established herself as a leading pop star in the Arab world after signing with Rotana Records. She released her debut album "Majnoun" in 2013, followed by the highly successful "Zai Ma Ana" in 2015, which became the most downloaded album on iTunes in the Middle East at the time. Fathi is celebrated for her versatile vocal ability, performing in various Arabic dialects and mastering opera in multiple languages. Beyond her music career, Balqees has emerged as a successful entrepreneur. In October 2020, she launched her own cosmetics line, BEX Beauty, specifically tailored for women in the Gulf and the Middle East. Balqees was a featured artist on the official 2022 FIFA World Cup song, "Light The Sky," performing alongside other international female artists. This participation in one of the world's most-watched events marked a significant milestone in her career, amplifying her global presence. In 2020, Balqees launched her entrepreneurial venture, BEX Beauty, a cosmetics line made in Italy. The brand is specifically created for Middle Eastern women and is sold in major retailers like Faces and Tryano, demonstrating her successful entry into the business world. In February 2024, she was named the first Emirati regional ambassador for the prestigious French beauty house, Guerlain. She also serves as a brand ambassador for luxury jewelry brands like Marli and Messika, highlighting her status as a leading influencer in the high-fashion and beauty sectors. On October 20, 2019, Balqees was honored with a star on the Dubai Stars walkway in Downtown Dubai. This recognition celebrated her significant contributions and influence on the region's artistic and cultural landscape, placing her among the most prominent personalities.
