Malakeh Jazmati is a celebrated Syrian chef and entrepreneur who has become a symbol of Syrian cuisine and culture in the heart of Berlin, Germany. Born in Damascus in 1987, she initially pursued a diverse career path, earning a degree in Arabic Literature and also studying International Relations and Diplomatic Sciences in Jordan. Before the conflict in Syria, she worked for a telecommunications company and as a political program presenter. Her life took a significant turn when she moved to Jordan, where she serendipitously entered the world of culinary television, quickly rising to fame with her cooking show "Maliket al-Tabkh" (Queen of Cooking) on Orient TV. In 2015, Jazmati began a new chapter as a refugee in Berlin. There, she transformed her passion for cooking into a mission to preserve her heritage and introduce German society to the richness of Syrian culture. She co-founded a catering company with her husband, which quickly gained acclaim. This success led to the opening of her eponymous restaurant, "Malakeh," in Berlin's Schöneberg district, which has become a popular destination for authentic Syrian food, with a second location in the Manifesto Market at Potsdamer Platz. Jazmati views food as a universal language, capable of breaking down barriers and building bridges between cultures.
