Fadel Abdul Rahman Shamander Chaker, known professionally as Fadel Chaker, is a Lebanese singer and composer born in Sidon, Southern Lebanon. He began his artistic journey at the age of 15, performing at local events and weddings, influenced by classic Arab Tarab artists. His professional career was launched in 1998 with his debut album "Wallah Zaman," produced by Al Khouyoul Records. He quickly established himself as one of the most prominent romantic voices in the Arab world, earning the title "King of Romance" for his warm vocals and emotional delivery. His success continued with hit albums like "Baya'a El Qolob" (1999) and "El Hob El Adem" (2000). In 2003, he signed with Rotana Records, releasing several successful albums, including "Sidi Rouhi" and "Allah Aalam." In late 2012, Chaker announced his surprising retirement from music. He became associated with cleric Ahmed al-Assir and was implicated in the 2013 Abra clashes against the Lebanese Army, leading him to become a fugitive for years and receive sentences in absentia. He gradually returned to the music scene starting in 2018, releasing new songs from his hideout that garnered millions of views. In October 2025, he surrendered to Lebanese authorities. In May 2026, he was acquitted in one of the major cases against him but still faces other charges in military court.
