Marwan Abdelhamid, known professionally as Saint Levant, is a Palestinian artist, rapper, and songwriter born in Jerusalem during the Second Intifada. He comes from a multicultural background, with a French-Algerian mother and a Palestinian-Serbian father. He spent his early childhood in the Gaza Strip before his family relocated to Amman, Jordan, in 2007, and he later moved to Los Angeles, California. Saint Levant's music is characterized by its multilingual blend of Arabic, English, and French, drawing inspiration from early 2000s R&B and hip-hop, infused with distinct Arabic influences and Franco-Arabic rap. He gained significant international attention in November 2022 when his single "Very Few Friends" went viral on social media. His work often explores themes of identity, exile, and the Palestinian cause, as showcased in his debut EP "From Gaza, With Love" (2023) and his album "DEIRA" (2024). Beyond his music career, Marwan is a vocal advocate for Palestinian rights. He is a co-founder of the 2048 Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting and empowering Palestinian creatives. He also co-founded GrowHome, a platform connecting Palestinian entrepreneurs with funding opportunities. He has used major platforms, including his notable 2024 Coachella performance, to bring global awareness to the Palestinian struggle and advocate for justice.
