Yara, born Carla Nazih Berkachi on June 1, 1983, in Deir el-Ahmar, Lebanon, is a renowned Lebanese singer celebrated for her romantic and soulful voice. She has demonstrated remarkable versatility by performing songs in various Arabic dialects, including Lebanese, Egyptian, and Khaleeji (Gulf). Her artistic journey began at the age of 15 when she won the popular television talent show "Kass el-Nojoum" (Cup of the Stars) in 1998, performing a song by Souad Mohamed. Her professional breakthrough came under the guidance of Lebanese composer Tarek Abou Jaoudeh, who became her producer and chose her stage name, "Yara." In 2005, she released her debut single, "Hob Kbeer," which was met with widespread acclaim and was followed by her first album, "Twassa Feyi." Yara solidified her status as a leading Arab artist with a series of successful albums, including "Enta Menni" (2008) and her first all-Khaleeji album, "La'ale' Khaleejiya" (2009), which significantly expanded her fanbase across the Gulf region. Subsequent successful albums include "Aayesh Bi Oyouni" (2014) and "Maa'zzabni El Hawa" (2017). Beyond her music, Yara is also known for her humanitarian work, notably serving as an ambassador for the Lebanese Red Cross. She currently resides in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
