Hayma Ismail is a Syrian actress and director who rose to prominence in Syrian drama at the turn of the new millennium. Born in Damascus to an artistic family—her father is the painter Naim Ismail—she honed her talent through academic study, graduating from the Higher Institute of Dramatic Arts in Damascus in 2001. Her career launched powerfully even before her graduation when the late director Hatem Ali cast her as Al-Yamama bint Kulayb in the renowned historical series "Al-Zeer Salem" (2000), a role that brought her widespread fame. She followed this with notable performances in historical and social dramas, including "Salah Al-Din Al-Ayoubi" (2001), "Saqr Quraish" (2002), and the second part of "Al-Fusoul Al-Arbaa" (2002). After her marriage in 2002, Ismail moved to Kuwait and took a hiatus from acting for nearly 17 years to focus on her family and raise her three children. She made a gradual comeback through Kuwaiti television with roles in "Thuraya" (2014) and "Bein Qalbin" (2016). Her definitive return to Syrian drama came in 2019 with the series "Masafet Aman," directed by Al-Laith Hajjo. Since then, she has actively resumed her career, participating in diverse works such as "Souk Al-Harir" (2020), "Doyoof Ala Al-Hob" (2021), and the popular series "Crystal" (2023).
