Majid Almohandis, born Majid Abd al-Amir Adir al-Attabi on October 25, 1971, is a prominent Iraqi singer and composer who also holds Saudi Arabian citizenship. Regarded as one of the Arab world's leading music stars, he was born in Baghdad, Iraq, to a modest family and initially worked as a tailor alongside his father. Despite his early passion for music, he pursued higher education at his family's behest and earned a degree in Aeronautical Engineering, which led to his famous moniker "Al Mohandis" (The Engineer). Almohandis began his artistic journey in the early 1990s, initially facing family opposition. He later moved to Jordan to pursue his career before signing with Rotana, a pivotal moment that launched him to stardom. Known for his emotive voice and romantic ballads, he earned titles such as "The Prince of Arab Singing" and "The Diamond Voice." In 2010, he was granted Saudi citizenship while retaining his Iraqi nationality. Currently residing in Dubai, UAE, Almohandis continues his successful career by releasing acclaimed albums and performing at major festivals worldwide. In 2022, he served as a judge on the talent show "Saudi Idol," demonstrating his commitment to nurturing young artists.
