Ahmed Mohamed Helmy Abdel Rahman Awwad is a prominent Egyptian actor, comedian, producer, and author, widely regarded as one of the leading comedy stars in the Arab world. Born in Banha, Qalyubia Governorate, on November 18, 1969, he spent part of his childhood in Saudi Arabia before returning to Egypt. He graduated from the Higher Institute of Theatrical Arts in 1993 with a degree in stage and set design, a background that informed his artistic perspective. Helmy's career began serendipitously. After working as a set designer and director for children's television, he was chosen to host the show "Leib Eyal" (Kids' Play) in 1998. The program's immense success caught the attention of acclaimed director Sherif Arafa, who cast him in the 1999 film "Aboud on the Border." This role served as his cinematic breakthrough, launching a career defined by box-office hits and critical acclaim. His filmography includes iconic films such as "El Nazer," "Mido Mashakel," "Zaki Chan," "Keda Reda," "Sorry for the Disturbance," "Asal Eswed" (Molasses), and "X-Large." Beyond acting, Helmy has diversified his portfolio. He served as a judge on the popular talent show "Arabs Got Talent" for several seasons. He is also the founder of the production company Shadows Communications, and authored the book "28 Harf" (28 Letters). Helmy is also known for his humanitarian work; he was appointed a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador in Egypt and later a Regional Ambassador for the Middle East and North Africa, using his platform to advocate for children's rights.
