Amina Khalil, born on October 26, 1988, is a prominent Egyptian actress recognized for her versatile roles in contemporary Arab cinema and television. Raised in an artistic family—her uncle is the renowned jazz musician Yehya Khalil—she developed a passion for the arts early on. Khalil pursued a formal education in acting, graduating from The American University in Cairo (AUC) in 2009. She further honed her craft internationally at the prestigious Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute in New York and also trained at the Moscow Art Theatre. Her career began with roles in series like "Sharbat Loze" and "Taraf Tallet." However, her breakout role came in 2016 as Nazly in the hit series "Grand Hotel," which garnered widespread critical and popular acclaim. Khalil has since become known for tackling complex and socially relevant female characters. Her leading roles in series like "Leh Laa?!" (Why Not?!), which sparked a nationwide conversation about female independence, "Khali Balak Men Zizi" (Take Care of Zizi), which addressed ADHD for the first time in Middle Eastern drama, and "El Harsha El Sabaa" (The Seventh Year Itch), which explored marital challenges, have solidified her status as a leading actress. Her film credits include notable works such as "Sheikh Jackson," "The Cell," "122," and "Wesh Fi Wesh" (Face to Face). Beyond her acting career, Khalil is a dedicated advocate for social causes. In recognition of her work on women's and girls' rights, she was appointed a UNFPA Honorary Ambassador in Egypt in June 2021.
