Bisan Owda is a Palestinian journalist, filmmaker, and activist from the Gaza Strip, born in 1997. She gained international acclaim for her frontline coverage of the war on Gaza beginning in October 2023, documenting the daily experiences of civilians through powerful social media videos, often starting with her signature phrase, "I'm still alive." Prior to the war, Owda was known for producing "Hakawatia" (The Storyteller), a show for Roya TV that explored Palestinian history and culture. She has also worked with prominent international organizations, serving as a member of UN Women's Youth Gender Innovation Agora Forum, working with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), and collaborating with the European Union on climate change issues, for which she was named an EU Goodwill Ambassador. During the war, her family's home in Beit Hanoun and her office in the Rimal neighborhood were bombed, forcing her to continue her journalism using only her phone. Her reporting has been featured by major global media outlets, including BBC News, Al Jazeera, and ABC News, and is credited with humanizing the stories emerging from Gaza.
