Omar Kamal, born Amr Kamal Badeer Al-Sawy in Cairo on September 30, 1985, is a prominent Egyptian singer and actor. Raised in a conservative family, he began his artistic journey in 2007 by posting cover songs online. Despite these early efforts, widespread recognition did not come until much later in his career. His major breakthrough occurred in 2019 with the release of the song "Bent El Geran" (The Neighbor's Daughter), a collaboration with fellow Mahraganat artist Hassan Shakosh. The track became a massive success across Egypt and the Arab world, catapulting him to fame. Kamal followed this with a series of hit singles that garnered hundreds of millions of views on YouTube, including "Oud Al Batal" (The Hero's Body) and "Lghbtita," often collaborating with artists like Hassan Shakosh and Hamo Bika. His style is characterized by blending traditional Shaabi and Mahraganat music with modern electronic beats. In addition to his music career, Kamal has ventured into acting, appearing in the television series "El Nemr" (The Tiger) and "Bayn El-Samaa Wa El-Ard" (Between Heaven and Earth) in 2021, solidifying his status as a versatile entertainer.
